Bob W. Karpe
is Chairman of the Board of Karpe Real Estate Center. a position he has held
since1984. This is a complete real estate company, established in 1926 by
his father, Elmer F. Karpe. The firm is engaged in sales, loans,
appraisal, property management, investment, and real estate development.
Between the years of 1981 - 1984, Mr. Karpe was appointed by President Ronald
Reagan to be President of the Government National Mortgage Association in
Washington D.C. As President of this $68 billion dollar per year
corporation, he initiated international marketing of GNMA securities.
Bob Karpe was
Real Estate Commissioner for the State of California during the years of 1971 -
1975, appointed by then Governor Ronald Reagan.
Presently,
Mr. Karpe is a Director of the California State University, Bakersfield
Foundation, and Honorary Director of the Bakersfield Police Activities League.
He has received many honors in past years including the John Brock Award in
1991, and inducted into the Bob Elias Hall of Fame in 1991.
Mr. Karpe has
been a supporter of the Bakersfield Police Activities League since it was formed
in 1994. Through Mr. Karpe's philanthropic efforts BPAL enjoys a state of
the art facility that provides educational and recreation programs to over one
thousand children annually and, on average two hundred children daily.
We
commemorate Mr. Karpe's efforts by naming our gymnasium in his honor.
