junior police academy

The Bakersfield Junior Police Academy is a program conducted at the Bakersfield Police Activities League (BPAL), a local non-profit organization serving the Bakersfield and Kern County area since 1994.Each Cadet is required to become a member of the organization. This program and the BPAL membership is free to all who wish to participate.
The Bakersfield Police Department and BPAL is accepting applications for the 2023 Junior Police Academy.
First session will be June 12th-July 7th for ages 11-13 years old. Second session will be July 17th-August 11th for ages 14-17 years old from 7:45AM-12:00PMTWO LOCATIONS AVAILABLE: BAKERSFIELD POLICE ACTIVITIES LEAGUE OR FREEDOM MIDDLE SCHOOL.
The mission of the Junior Police Academy is to provide the recruits with a foundation of law enforcement, while enhancing their social skills to become more productive students and members of our community. The academy's focus will be leadership, accountability, and problem-solving. Curriculum will include various presentations from guests of law enforcement agencies, hands-on practices, and physical training to give the recruits and idea of what is involved in becoming a Police Officer! The academy is free and lunch will be provided.
Limited spots available. Deadline: Juniors - April 21st; Seniors - May 26th.
